Engineering control is one of the five techniques available
for controlling hazards in the work environment. This technique has
a value that is more effective than some other techniques. Although
it still has the risk of danger, at least this can be minimized more
effectively. Engineering control is also known as engineering

pengendalian bahaya di tempat kerja perusahaan dapat melakukan analisis
kebutuhan yang paling cocok untuk diterapkan dengan bantuan Software
Engineering.Terdapat lima teknik pengendalian bahaya atau yang lebih populer
dikenal dengan hazard hierarchy atau hierarchy of control. Hierarki
pengendalian bahaya ini sebagai prinsip penting dalam pengendalian bahaya dalam

Contoh Penerapan Engineering Control
Berikut adalah beberapa contoh penerapan engineering control dalam
pengendalian bahaya di tempat kerja :
1. Pemasangan cover motor
Mesin yang terbuka atau dapat terlihat secara langsung sehingga
mudah tersentuh akan memiliki risiko yang lebih tinggi membahayakan. Maka dari
itu suatu mesin memiliki penutup dengan fungsi untuk mengurangi risiko bahaya
penggunaannya. Seperti kipas pada motor pompa, blower, atau kompresor
dilengkapi dengan cover atau penutup. Tujuannya adalah untuk mengurangi risiko
terkena bahaya putaran kipas. Teknik ini adalah salah satu pengendalian bahaya
menggunakan engineering control.
2. Pemasangan pagar pengaman pada lokasi transformer
Listrik sudah menjadi kebutuhan manusia dalam menjalankan aktivitas
sehari-harinya. Lokasi transformer adalah area yang memiliki tegangan listrik
tinggi. Listrik dengan tegangan tinggi dapat ditemukan di area-area tertentu
seperti tower, kamar mesin, dan ruang UPS (uninterrupted power supply).
Penjangkauan area transformer hanya untuk teknisi yang memiliki wewenang. Hal
ini juga harus dibarengi dengan penerapan engineering control untuk melindungi
pekerja dari bahaya sengatan listrik tegangan tinggi.
Kesimpulan
